Thanks for the handkerchief that I received. It comes in handy in this
dusty place. I also will cherish the verse that's written on it.

MARY,

THEY JUST ARRIVED THIS WEEK, AND WE ARE PUSHING THEM OUT TO SOLDIERS LATER IN THE WEEK.  YOU KNOW, IT IS INCREDIBLE BUT TO THINK OF ALL THE THINGS THAT SOLDIERS DESIRE IN TIMES OF THEIR NEED FOR GOD - THEY USE THESE BANDANAS.   THEY DO SO MORE THAN JUST AS ANOTHER TA-50 ITEM.  MANY OF THEM READ THE PSALM DAILY AND FIND THEMSELVES MEDITATING ON IT.

Good afternoon, ma-am.
Instead of waiting to formulate a more articulate letter of appreciation I believe it is more important to quickly send you a note simply saying "Thank you!"
You have made it possible for us to provide a Psalm 91 bandana to every Soldier from our unit, the 18th Fires Brigade (Airborne), who deploys in support of the War on Terrorism.
With the greatest appreciation,
Chaplain Fred MacLean

Thank you for the Psalm 91 bandana.  I have it hanging in my conex housing unit and I read all or part of it every day.  I am a Bible believer so I did not want to get the beautiful bandana dirty wearing it.  It inspires me daily.  Thank you again.  May the Lord bless you in your ministry.

Thank you for the bandana. Sometimes, churches send out stuff hoping it hits the mark, but never knowing. In this case, in a small forward base on the edge of Afghanistan, you did.

God Bless,

Mary,  Thank you so much for the Psalm 91 bandanas that you have sent

me.  I am already starting to give them out.  With the area of operation growing, along with my ministry, this will be a blessing to so many of our soldiers here in Iraq.

Again, thanks again and God Bless.

Mary, just last night while I was at the convoy brief when I pray with them, one of the soldiers who was about to go 'outside the wire' (with his Route Clearance platoon, who search for IED's) asked me if I had any more bandanas, so I walked back to my Bn to pick up some more and when other soldiers saw me carrying them they came up to me wanting them also. It's neat to hear that god has called you to do this.

Thanks,

CH Chris Carson

Mary,

I want to thank you for the Bandannas to our Troops. They were a real hit. On a practical level many of the Soldiers took them and were using them  to wear on their head before putting on the helmet. It helped keep the sweat off their brow in the incredible heat. I was having a problem for awhile with soldiers hoarding them.We are on a combat outpost where supplies can be limited at times so when something of value comes in people tend to grab them up quickly. I set the bandanna out on a table and Soldiers - rather than taking one or two - grabbed whole stacks of them. I had to wait until I got more and then dispense them so others could enjoy them to.
On a spiritual note - it was good to get the Psalm 91 chapter out to so many Soldiers with such a variety of beliefs and backgrounds. For some - it was probably the first time they have ever heard the passage that we as Christians cherish in times of danger or duress. For many of us as believers - Psalm 91 will always be a section of scripture that we will always look to for strength and comfort. Having them on bandannas is just one more way to keep the truth of the promise in front of us.
There is one particular Soldier in my unit that quotes Psalm 91 in his vehicle every time he goes outside the wire and then he prays for everyone in the vehicle. He was in an IED that exploded in his vehicle. No one was hurt. The following Sunday that Soldier was in my chapel. I had him start the service by quoting Psalm 91. It was powerful. He does wear the bandanna. I thought you would like to hear this. Take care and God bless,

Ms. Mary Gray,

Greetings in the mighty and beautiful name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your passion for the Lord and vision to get the word of God into the possession and hearts of soldiers. In the face of a broken world filled with chaos, death, separation from loved-ones and the uncertainty of war God's word comes as an unmovable foundation and is a rock of refuge. As Jesus said in Mark 13:31; "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." The stability of Christ and his word is what soldiers need on the battle field today. Some of these soldiers would never open a bible or the door of a chapel, but they will reflect on the words of Psalm 91 during the dark hours of the night watches.

These words can be the catalyst that draw them closer to "the Lover of their Souls" and ultimately to salvation.

It is an honor to serve along side you in Christ's body, the church universal. May the Lord continue to bless you and your ministry.

By His Grace, For His Glory,

J.R. Lorenzen, 18th Fires BDE Chaplain (Acting)
